The Challenge
The tattoo industry lacked a unified digital platform. Artists had no dedicated space to showcase portfolios and manage bookings, convention organizers struggled with promotion and artist management, and enthusiasts had no reliable way to discover artists by style, location, or specialization.
We needed to build a platform that served three distinct user types with very different needs — all within a single, cohesive mobile experience built with custom native modules for performance-critical features.
Our Solution
We designed and developed Tattooday from the ground up using React Native with Expo, plus custom Kotlin and Swift modules for camera, image processing, and real-time features that required native performance.
The app features portfolio showcasing with high-quality media, booking schedule management with timezone support, location-based artist discovery, direct messaging, monthly artist contests with community voting, and comprehensive convention management tools including RSVP tracking and geographic targeting.
A complete design system was built — color palette, typography, iconography, and reusable components — ensuring visual consistency across the entire onboarding, home, search, profile, and content creation flows.
